while cradled in my arms, Stormy took his final breath.

"Qui me amat, amet et canem meum."
("Love me, love my dog.")
-- St. Bernard de Clairvaux, A.D. 1150, "Sermo Primus"

Stormy, my best friend and companion for over ten and a half years, was diagnosed with Bone Cancer on August 25, 2006. The diagnosis, in two to three months the disease would take my buddy from me. On November 7, 2006 at 3:10 pm while cradled in my arms, Stormy took his final breath.

I won’t go on as to how Special Stormy was, right now my heart is too heavy, and words alone could never express what I and many others thought of him.

Stormy’s regular Vet never returned after the Hurricane. His Office, like many others, was destroyed by Katrina’s wind and waters. No way to contact him, his phone number never forwarded to his current location, no signs or notices on his office building, he was just gone.

Dr. Duplantier came out of retirement after Katrina and welcomed Stormy and I in as old long time friends.

Dr Duplantier and his Staff were there for Stormy and I 24/7, They helped me manage Stormy’s Pain as the illness took hold of my Brave Little Buddy’s body. When the time came and I knew my Buddy could go no longer, Dr Duplantier was there for me. Tuesday was Dons off day, he had plans to go fishing, but he remained home waiting for my call. That evening, Dr Duplantier helped end the suffering my buddy had endured.

My Gratitude to everyone at St. Bernard Veterinary Hospital could never be measured in words alone  If you are back living in St Bernard and your pet is in need, I highly recommend the good people at St. Bernard Veterinary Hospital

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food anRainbow Bridged water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together......."

I ONLY WANTED YOU

They say memories are golden
well maybe that is true
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you,
a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
and bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

Stormy
Recorded By: The Classics IV
Written By: Perry "Buddy" C. Buien and James R. Cobb
You were the sunshine, baby,
whenever you smiled
But I call you Stormy today
All of a sudden
that ole rain's fallin' down
And my world is cloudy and gray
You've gone away
Oh Stormy, oh Stormy
Bring back that sunny day
Yesterday's love was like a
warm summer breeze
But, like the weather ya changed
Now things are dreary, baby
And it's windy and cold
And I stand alone in the rain
Callin' your name
Oh Stormy, oh Stormy
Bring back that sunny day
instrumental break
Oh Stormy, oh Stormy
Bring back that sunny day
Bring back that sunny day
Oh Stormy,
FADE
Oh Stormy
